Simon Kodurand Violins

fine antique & contemporary stringed instruments

Simon Kodurand

Simon has provided instruments to orchestral players, chamber musicians, soloists, and students across the U.K., Europe, and further afield .

Having worked as a performer and collector for the last 20 years Simon has appraised countless instruments, from the finest examples of Amati and Stradivari to contemporary European and Chinese violins.  This experience has allowed Simon to develop his appreciation of the sound and aesthetic that form the qualities every player looks for when searching for a new instrument.  Our instruments are therefore not only in a fine state of preservation, but many have also been trialled on the concert platform.

Simon studied at both the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music. Following his concerto debut at the age of 16 he has performed in many parts of the world, has recorded extensively on both modern and period instruments and has performed numerous live radio and television broadcasts for the BBC, as well as on French, American, Mexican and Spanish radio.

"We are delighted that Simon Kodurand is one of our three official violin consultants for our 1696 violin by Antonio Stradivarius.  Simon takes great care to offer balanced insight and advice to the value and care of our priceless violin and it’s relation to the wider market.  Simon is an exceptionally charming and intelligent character and one who works with great integrity.  He is able to assist players through musicians eyes and ears by drawing on his own background of work as a professional violinist who performs at the highest level.  Simon is a very welcome example of the consummate professional in the fine instrument market.  We would have no hesitation in recommending Simon."
